Public Education

ERC > Outreach > Public Education

In addition to project related public outreach, ERC is dedicated to public education.

ERC staff has participated in the following:

  • Serving as an adjunct professor at Florida State University (Dr. Tobe)
  • Teaching ecotourism courses at Tallahassee Community College
  • Teaching hydric soil identification classes to the Department of Health staff and seasonal high water determination workshops to public and private sectors, including the NWFWMD
  • Providing guest speakers on topics of wetland permitting at Gulf Coast State College and Florida State University’s Panama City Campus
  • Providing site assessment and evaluation training to the FDEP Division of State Lands staff
  • Providing plant identification, wetland delineation, and hydric soil training to FDOT District 3
  • Identifying aquatic plants for the FDEP Bureau of Labs for Stream Condition Indexing and Lake Condition Indexing
  • Providing wetland training to State personnel at the Buffer Preserve in Cape San Blas
  • Developing ephemeral pond educational content for the USFWS
  • Developing wetland educational signage for display at wetland restoration areas managed by ERC
  • Creating plant and animal species identification cards
  • Hosted Conferences for Society of Ecological Restoration
